The Area of La Ronge is located in northern Saskatchewan on the shore of
beautiful Lac La Ronge. It is adjacent to The Lac La Ronge Indian Band
and The Northern Village of Air Ronge.
Personnel:
The department is a composite fire department with a paid
chief and deputy and 25 paid on call fire fighters and 10 volunteers. The
paid on call
portion consists of a three captains, lieutenants and fire
fighters.

Equipment:
We operate out of a new state of the art station that houses our
three
engines, a tanker, an ice rescue, a road rescue, a Haz-Mat trailer and a
mobile command post unit and two command half tons. It also houses our 2400
sq ft E. M. O. Center upstairs.
The center also serves as a fire fighter lounge and meeting room.
Scope of Operation:
The fire department provides services for the Town
of La Ronge, the La Ronge Airport, the Northern Village of Air Ronge
and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (8000 people). These services
include, but are not limited to structural and forest fire fighting,
ice and fast water rescue, automobile extrication. Airport crash
rescue and fire fighting, hazardous materials response as to the level
of resources available. The nearest possible mutual aid department is
approximately two hours away. And we provide rescue services of auto
extrication for most of northern Saskatchewan. By population comparison this
is
one of the busiest departments in the province.
